Siargao, surf’s gem of the Philippines

Siargao is a beautiful and peaceful island located 800 kilometers southeast of Philippines’ capital Manila. It belongs to the province of Surigao del Norte, situated at the northeastern tip of Mindanao.

Still outside to the main turistic circuit, the island is surrounded by palms everywhere and attract mostly surfers from all over the world for her perfect and clean waves.

Locals people are very friendly and so open minded compare to their way of life, most of the them still living in bamboo huts and piles on the river, the main livelihood activities are fishing, hunting and farming.

The new generations feel more “occidental” in the way of life, but they find everyday at least a moment for surf and rejoin to their proper element: the sea.
